Welcome to Code for Denver! We’re so excited that you have joined us and are ready to help create technological solutions to improve our community. We typically meet twice a month, on alternating Mondays at 6pm. Our meetings usually consist of running through a quick agenda and then breaking out into smaller teams to do project work. If this is your first time at Code for Denver, you will have a chance to attend a new member orientation at you first meeting, which follows the agenda. This short presentation is meant to help you get better oriented with how we do things here so you can feel comfortable and start contributing right away.

In order to get started making contributions, there are a few things you will need to do:

Once you have access to all of the necessary tools to get started, check out some of the projects that we are actively working on.

If you would like to join one of the active Code for Denver projects, join the discord channel for the project and follow the project discussion. Check out the list of active GitHub issues and look for an open issue where you feel you would be able to contribute. If you are looking for something small to start, many issues are labeled as a ‘good first issue, which means they are perfect for new members looking to contribute’. You’ll also want to reach out to the project lead and verify that your chosen issue would be a good place to start. Once you receive confirmation, you are good to go!

For more information on how to make code contributions, see the Code Contributions page.

If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out to a member of the org team on Discord or via email. We are always more than happy to help.
