We created these starter project ideas for people new to civic technology and those who don't find a project fit immediately when joining the brigade. These projects can be done individually or by small teams (1-4 people ideally) and they help showcase the capabilities that Code for Denver has for future partnerships.

Find projects at other brigades, and replicate them for Denver

Other brigades across the Code for America network are doing just what we’re doing here in Denver, building software and solutions for their communities. Oftentimes we can leverage what great ideas they and their partners have had, by replicating it for our community. Find something interesting and work with the original brigade and others in Code for Denver to make it happen here.

Open or improve datasets

Colorado and Denver both have open data initiatives, so let’s help them out by finding data that’s still locked down via file format, access, or other means and open it up. Take something you might have an interest in, research if the city or state has meaningful data on it, and then find out if it’s released in a machine readable format. If not, find where to get it! Then you can load it into a queryable database (either for the State or City, or your own) and make it searchable or filterable.
